Police Make Significant Drug Bust in Wakiso District
In a significant operation, Wakiso District police have arrested three individuals accused of possessing and selling narcotic drugs. The suspects, Kafeero James (alias Uncle Manda), Alioni Gasto, and Mwesigwa Isaac, were apprehended on November 12, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m. during an intelligence-led raid in Kayunga Village, Gombe Parish, Wakiso Town Council.
According to the police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, Racheal Kawala, this operation was a crucial part of ongoing efforts to dismantle a network of opium dealers operating in the area. The investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in selling opium to criminals, with some individuals disguising themselves as charcoal sellers in Kayunga Market.
During the raid, police recovered evidence of suspected narcotic substances, further strengthening the case against the suspects. The three individuals are currently in custody at Wakiso Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
This successful operation highlights the district's commitment to combating drug-related crime and dismantling supply chains that fuel criminal activities in the Kampala Metropolitan area. As Kawala emphasized, 'Disruptive intelligence-led operations continue in a bid to curb down crime.'
The public's support and awareness in reporting suspicious activities are crucial in the fight against drug trafficking. This bust serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are actively working to ensure a safer and healthier community.
